_____Green Building gets high-tech tools Green Building XML (gbXML). The Green Building XML Schema is designed to be the best solution for architects, building designers, CAD developers, and product manufacturers who want to incorporate green building principles in their designs, tools, and products. The objective of this schema is to facilitate interoperability between the various building design and facilities management software tools in use today as well as those that will be available in the future. The XML schema is a universal language that allows for data to be exchanged in a format readable by any computer. _____Leading Web application technology, Plone, continues to thrive Plone, the leading Open Source Content Management System (CMS), and part of ifPeople's preferred Web technology platform, has continued to gain momentum over the last few months with its adoption by major IT service vendor Computer Associates, the publication of a complete developer's guide, and the realization of the community's second annual conference in Vienna. P²AD Partners become part of a cohesive network of organizations that share a common goal - to prevent pollution at the source and create and maintain sustainable business practices. ifPeople was admitted as a charter member at the Yellow Ribbon level recognizing our commitment to helping local businesses improve their environmental performance and our own exemplary environmental management. The conferences will feature international experts on telecommunications, electronic commerce, civil liberties, and global policy. _____NTEN conference on technology in Non-profits and ifPeople's presentation Chris Johnson, cofounder of ifPeople will present in the session on "Building Successful Organizations and Virtual Communities: Best Practices and Free Software Tools for the Internet." The Internet enables people from all over the world to communicate and collaborate in a common space. This session will explore Internet tools and how they can and have been used in collaboration, project management, and building virtual communities. A powerful array of tools appropriate for and accessible to values-driven organizations has emerged from the Free Software movement for use by teams organizations networks and campaigns. This conference will be held 25-26 October 2004 at Bush Hotel Conference Centre, Farnham, Surrey, UK. Global sustainable and responsible innovation will require the creation of more sustainable and responsible markets - and to achieve this will require multi-stakeholder actions, with a policy orientation focused on earlier stages of the product or service lifecycle. The event will analyse the problems, barriers and obstacles to new sustainable and responsible business models and will highlight opportunities. A unique feature will be The Living Laboratory that will showcase sustainable business, product, service and PSS concepts. Sustainable Innovation 04 will be about new thinking, different perspectives and will be a key learning experience. ifPeople's president, Tirza Hollenhorst, will be presenting FairSource, ifPeople's approach to promoting sustainable livelihoods through trade in services.
