Web Technology Can Help Your Organization Survive an Economic Downturn

The constant barrage of negative news about the financial crises facing economies around the world is tiring and saps the creative energy we need to contribute to solutions. While we don't want to dwell on the negative, we do want to address some concerns and offer some guidance.

At ifPeople, we have the opportunity to work closely with organizations that are doing exciting work and making important contributions to the world.  Many of our clients are nonprofits, and we recognize the threats and uncertainty our friends in that sector are facing as they rely on donations from tightening wallets and grants from cautious foundations.  Recent articles and blog posts on nonprofit funding have addressed these issues and offered some helpful advice.

ifPeople client Investors' Circle will also be addressing the issue at their upcoming conference in a plenary session, "The Crisis on Wallstreet and the Future of Social Investing."

Our local nonprofit center, The Georgia Center for Nonprofits, developed an online resource hub to help organizations stay abreast of financial news and advice on how to weather the storm.  The Nonprofit Times, Giving USA, Network for Good, Philanthropy, and other sources strongly caution against suspending fund raising efforts or cutting budgets in the area of donor acquisition or acknowledgment.

Instead, they encourage organizations to leverage available means for bringing in donations, strengthen existing relationships, make the most of lists, and  campaign as efficiently as possible.

Effective web technology solutions, such as integrated constituent relationship management (CRM), content management (CMS), and donation processing capabilities, can provide essential components to remaining viable throughout an economic downturn.

At ifPeople, we have helped clients establish a strong technology platform using Plone, GetPaid, and Salesforce.com or Salsa (from Democracy in Action). Contact us to learn more about how we can integrate these systems to help you maintain an engaged constituent base, and enable your online donation efforts.
